Hi Amy; I keep my oil at half way on the glass. If you put too much oil in, it will find a way out through a seal or gasket, and then you will have oil leaks forever, or at least until you change the gasket(s). The OEM service manual states that with a filter change the oil capacity is 2400 ml or 2.5 US quarts. I find that just two US quarts will put the oil line at halfway on the glass, which is right in between too much or too little. Just don't let it get below the bottom mark, and you will not hurt the motor. Frank
